The American Bible Society is helping children and youth who have been evacuated from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina by providing printed materials especially for those age groups. Young people have been traumatized by the disaster and need particular attention at this time. It is thought that the print pieces will reassure them of God's love and care.

The American Bible Society has been reaching out to those evacuated from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina with the comfort and hope of God's Word. The Bible Society responded forcefully in 1927 when a similar hurricane-related disaster struck the area around New Orleans. Then, as now, God's love and care was provided through the Book of Books, the Bible.

The American Bible Society, hearing pleas from churches helping those ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, is responding to a desperate need for Bibles. Churches have lost their Bibles and many family Bibles have become victims of the hurricane. A compelling call has been issued by the Bible Society to the American people to respond vigorously not only to the physical but also the spiritual crisis by providing Bibles to those who need them.
